Reimagining leadership culture through immersive experience design

Challenge

As hybrid work became the new normal, Booz Allen’s Aerospace leadership team faced a pivotal question: How might we reimagine the way we work—so our people can meet mission needs at speed while feeling more connected? The Aerospace Senior Leadership Offsite presented an opportunity to explore this challenge through experience, not just discussion. The goal: create a dynamic, human-centered forum where leaders could align around the future of hybrid work, collaboration, and culture.

Solution

I co-led the design and facilitation of the Hybrid Work Interactive Conversation—a four-hour immersive experience hosted at Booz Allen’s McLean headquarters. Through a series of interactive “Activations,” more than 70 senior leaders explored the future of hybrid work across three themes: How We Work, Why We Meet, and Why We Stay. Each activation invited leaders to collaborate, reflect, and prioritize tangible actions for change.
Our approach focused on:

  • Experience architecture: Designed a journey that moved leaders from exploration to reflection to commitment, grounded in human-centered design principles.

  • Interactive Activations: Built exhibits and guided exercises that helped leaders solve real hybrid work challenges and build empathy for employees’ diverse needs.

  • Leadership tools: Created tactile and digital takeaways including the Hybrid Work Plan booklet, Champion Pins, and a live up-voting tool for prioritizing initiatives over 1, 6, and 12 months.

  • Facilitation design: Crafted guided reflection prompts and group decision frameworks to surface insights and co-create accountability.

  • Empathy-building frameworks: Used persona-based scenarios to help leaders explore hybrid work through employees’ eyes and identify cultural gaps.

My Role

As Creative Director and Lead Facilitator, I:

  • Defined the creative vision and narrative framework for the experience, ensuring every activation tied back to the goal of reimagining hybrid work culture.

  • Directed the end-to-end event flow, shaping the agenda, pacing, and transitions across the four-hour experience.

  • Crafted facilitation prompts and discussion guides that moved leaders from insight to action.

  • Led live facilitation and synthesis sessions with 70+ senior leaders to surface priorities and commitments.

  • Partnered with the experience design team to shape event materials, reflection tools, and supporting visuals.

  • Collaborated with Aerospace leadership to align creative and strategic decisions to organizational goals and brand principles.

  • Ensured consistency and cohesion across storytelling, design, and live delivery for a seamless on-brand experience.

Impact

The experience engaged more than 70 senior leaders in a highly rated (4.8/5) session that moved conversation into action. Leaders collectively prioritized top hybrid work initiatives for implementation over the next year, driving new behaviors around collaboration, mentorship, and meeting design. The approach built empathy for employees’ hybrid realities and created a scalable model for culture transformation now being replicated across other Booz Allen accounts.

Takeaway

By directing and facilitating this experience, I helped turn a leadership offsite into a movement toward culture change. The Hybrid Work Interactive Conversation demonstrated that lasting transformation happens when leaders connect through shared purpose—proving that empathy and storytelling are as essential to organizational design as strategy itself.
