Aligning leaders, culture, and storytelling to drive digital transformation
Challenge
Booz Allen partnered with a major defense client whose Chief Information Officer (CIO) needed to unify his senior technology leaders—the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Data Officer, and Chief Software Officer—around a shared vision for cloud transformation. While the organization had invested heavily in cloud infrastructure, fragmentation across leadership, strategy, and adoption limited its impact. The challenge was to create both strategic alignment and cultural cohesion: a unified roadmap, measurable outcomes, and a story that made the cloud meaningful across the enterprise.

Strategic capture & program design: Partnered with senior leadership to define the engagement vision, outcomes, and scope—securing a multimillion-dollar tactical sale that positioned Booz Allen as a trusted strategic partner.

Human-centered research: Conducted qualitative interviews and environmental scans to understand stakeholder needs, barriers, and opportunities.

Executive alignment workshops: Facilitated collaborative sessions that defined the shared vision, transformation principles, and leadership culture.

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitation: Helped executives model their roles, responsibilities, and team dynamics to strengthen collaboration.

Strategic roadmap development: Guided the creation of an integrated 3-year cloud roadmap linking mission objectives, milestones, and success metrics.

Metrics framework: Co-developed a Metrics Playbook and Power BI dashboard informed by OKRs to measure transformation progress.

Web-based interactive data story: Led the design and creative direction of a dynamic, animated web experience that made the cloud strategy accessible across the enterprise—combining brand storytelling, data visualization, and interactive design to drive understanding and adoption.

Immersive launch experience: Introduced the interactive site at Booz Allen’s Helix innovation center, where 400+ participants engaged through live demos, moderated panels, polls, and a gamified cloud learning experience.

Takeaway
By integrating strategy, storytelling, and experience design, I helped transform a complex cloud initiative into a shared enterprise vision. Through executive facilitation, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, and an interactive web-based data story, we turned alignment into engagement—building clarity, culture, and measurable momentum. The project not only unified leadership and increased adoption but also became a model for how Booz Allen uses human-centered design to drive digital transformation.
